Cathy's Curse

Cathy's Curse is a snore-fest of a movie. It centers around a little girl named Cathy and her family. When her father, George, was a boy his mother ran off with him (we never learn why). George's father and little sister died in an auto accident while chasing after the running mother. Now as an adult George has returned to his father's house. Cathy takes up residence in her late aunt's bedroom and is soon possessed by the spirit of the dead girl. She begins committing unspeakable acts driving her already mentally unstable mother to the brink of total insanity.
There doesn't seem to be much reason behind the dead girl lashing out from beyond the grave the way she does. Maybe she's just hacked off that she's dead. I can understand her harboring some resentment towards Cathy's mother since her own mother ran off, but her rage is not directed only towards her mother. She lashes out at other kids, and really everyone except Cathy's father.
There's nothing gripping about the movie. The characters aren't that great, the story doesn't seem thought out very much (such as the total lack of any indication why George's mother ran off or wanted to take him but not his sister with her).
It doesn't help that the acting is mostly very bad. The synthesized score is just about unbearable particularly when it gets to the more horrific scenes. My poor ears. And I listen to some pretty grating music.
Put it all together and it becomes a struggle just to get to the end of the movie. If I weren't somewhat obsessive about watching everything on every DVD I buy I would have turned this one off.
MORALITY:
There are some violent and disturbing scenes, but they're quite tame compared to the average modern horror movie.
There's a good bit of strong language (including rather a lot by children).
There is no nudity or anything sexual.
SPIRITUALITY:
Cathy's dead aunt comes back in spirit form and more or less possess Cathy demonic-style. I guess it's a good thing ticked off dead people can't really do that.
FINAL THOUGHTS:
The terrible movie combined with terrible quality comes out to be a movie that I recommend steering clear of.
