Werewolf In A Girls' Dormitory.jpg

Werewolf in a Girls' Dormitory is an old black and white Italian horror film.

A new teacher has arrived at a school for troubled girls. Soon afterwords a student involved in a blackmail scheme is mauled by a werewolf. Her friend finds out about Dr. Olcott's shady past and thinks the wolf is just a cover story for his misdeeds. Meanwhile, this same professor treats the werewolf affliction as if it's a natural disease and wants to find out who the wolf is so he can cure that person.

One of the big, big negatives about this movie is that the dialogue is horrible. It helps make the acting unconvincing and makes the plot hard to follow at times. Occasionally it even reaches the point of being nonsensical such as, “The wolf attack has not been confirmed, and I have no reason to doubt it.” He has no reason to doubt it hasn't been confirmed or no reason to doubt the attack was by a wolf despite being it being unconfirmed? I believe he means the latter, but the wording makes it sound more like the former.

There are other problems as well. For example, the murdered girl's friend makes it clear she hasn't seen the body, yet when talking about it she illustrates the proper placement of the wounds.

The plot tries to be complex working in subplots of blackmail, throwing in red herrings like different people with similar injuries that supposedly reveal the truth, and a secret conspiracy by the real villain. Unfortunately due to issues such as the awful dialogue the complexities become convoluted rather than interesting.

MORALITY:

There is some violence, though tame by current standards it's still bloodier than a lot of black and while movies I've seen.

There is some sexual suggestion and dialogue dealing mostly with an older man having an affair with a student. There's no actual sex and nothing revealing.

I didn't notice any strong language at all.

SPIRITUALITY:

The werewolf affliction is treated more like a disease than a cure of any supernatural origin.

FINAL THOUGHTS:

I say don't bother. Not unless you plan to add your own fun-filled soundtrack with a group of friends. It has nothing to offer to make it worth the time.
