Son Of Ingagi.jpg

I'll give this to Son of Ingagi, many of these old black and white movies love using monkeys as monsters but not many use half-man monkey-monsters. Not that that makes the movie any good at all, it's just an observation of something it attempts.

I'm not real sure who Ingagi is/was or what he has to do with the story outside of presuming that the monkeymonster is his son. The story revolves around a newlywed couple. A strange doctor with an ill reputation about town approaches the bride. The girl is an orphan and the doctor claims to have known her parents. She leaves the girl with a wedding present, everything she owns.

The doctor lives in her house with her monkeymonster henchman. When her pet gets a taste of blood it goes nuts and kills its master. The couple moves into their newly inherited house unaware of its secret occupant. The monkeymonster plagues the couple by killing people that come in which naturally casts suspicion on the innocent couple. Can they survive this horror and clear their name?

This is a movie that suffers a lot from being stiff and dull. The monkeymonster looks goofy, and the acting is a long way from impressive. The suspense is not suspenseful and the scares not scary. Who knows factually a monkey's life span? This is not your ordinary hurdy-gurdy man. (Sorry, Chagall Guevara's “Monkey Grinder” came up in the play list as I was writing this and I got carried away with connecting the imagery).

MORALITY:

The monkeymonster terrorizes and kills people but like most black and white horror movies the violence is very tame in its depiction.

There is no sexuality, nudity, or strong language.

SPIRITUALITY:

I think the dead doctor is a scientist rather than a witch or anything of that sort. I don't see any supernatural explanations for the monkeymonster so just expect a science experiment gone wrong.

FINAL THOUGHTS:

I might consider Son of Ingagi to be so bad it's amusing except that it's awfully slow and dull. It's more likely to put you sleep than entertain you.
