Vampire's Night Orgy.jpg

The title of Vampires' Night Orgy might very well have you envisioning a different kind of movie experience than it actually offers. I would never have bothered to check it out as a result of the title if it hadn't come in a box set of other movies.

A group of people on a bus find themselves in a difficult situation when the bus driver drops dead. They decide to head to the nearest village since they can't make it to their final destination without help.

The town is home to vampires lead by the Countess. They act hospitably towards the visitors and offer to take care the group while they are stranded. It is, of course, all a ruse to have people to feed on. Can anyone survive the slaughter?

I suppose you could take this as the 70's Spanish precursor to From Dusk Til Dawn. Innocent people are gathered together for a bloodsucking feast. The “orgy” part of the title has to do with the slaughter rather than anything sexual.

It's moderately entertaining for the type of movie it is. There's no significant character development, not much in the way of a personal story, and no clever turn of a plot. It's just people being led to a nest of vampires who lure then set upon them.

The acting is rather weak which isn't helped by being dubbed in English. Why don't theyy ever bother to hire people who can actually act to do these dubs?

It shows its age and budget resulting in a campy feel. Campy does not necessarily mean it's a bad movie, though. As long as you're not taking this too seriously it can be entertaining.

MORALITY:

As I said before, the “orgy” in the title does not speak to this being sexual. There are some suggestions of sex, but not much of anything is shown.

There is a shot of nudity in a non-sexual setting. It sounds like there is probably more nudity in the uncut version (probably under the title of “Orgy of the Vampires”), but I don't know the details.

The film opens up on a disgusting maggoty corpse so that should give you an idea of what to expect. Violence is bloody, but the gore factor probably isn't enough to bother most modern viewers.

Strong language amounts to only a few questionable words.

SPIRITUALITY:

The vampires here are the standard demonic undead type.

FINAL THOUGHTS:

Some people really like the 70's Euro horror films. I can't say that I'm typically an avid fan, but I stayed moderately entertained by this one. I say check it out if you like older vampire flicks.
