Releases Reviewed:

Breakout From Oppression was slightly challenging to research because it appears that there is another obscure Chinese flick going by the same title out there. Fortunately neither one turned up very many options, and, since this one is horror compared to the other being Kung Fu, they turned out to be easy enough to sort through.

There is 1 stand-alone DVD option and 1 multi-movie pack that I can find.

I got mine in the Drive In Movie Classics 50 pack.

Video:

1.33: This is the TV standard ratio. The video is low quality. I assume it was shot in widescreen (though nothing I could find actually said it was) because the proportions look weird and the sides of the image are obviously cut off.

Audio:

2.0 mono: The audio is slightly distorted with a low hum behind it.

Packaging:

The packaging from this company changes from time to time, but mine has each disc in a paper sleeve. All of those fit into a large plastic case. You can read more details of the set as a whole in the Drive In Movie Classics buying guide.

The torture is worsened by a Mill Creek logo that pops up periodically.

Extras:

There are no extras of any kind.

Other Editions:

The DVD I found gives absolutely no details about what it has to offer. I can't tell you what the ratio or audio encoding are. There are no extras listed and no comments on the quality. Until I see something that says otherwise I'm going to assume that the only difference between this presentation and the one I described above is the absence of the Mill Creek logo.

Final Thoughts:

While I would rather not recommend the Drive In Movie Classics pack because of that stupid logo, there really isn't a great option. Oh sure, you can get the DVD if you want, but if it's still selling for the price I saw when I was writing this guide, you need to be really, REALLY desperate for this movie to get it.
