Releases Reviewed:
Here's another old public domain flick with enough releases to swamp anyone trying to sort through them all. Yes, I'm talking about Swamp Women.
There are numerous fly-by-night DVD releases and just as many various multi-movie packs. None stand out from the others.
I got mine in the “Horror Classics” 50 pack.
Video:
1.33: There is no widescreen version. The colors look weird to me in some of the scenes like it's a colorized black and white film. It has a fair amount of trash.
Audio:
1.0 mono: The quality is fair but dated. It's not a great mix but it's clearly understandable.
Packaging:
This particular disc is housed in a cardboard sleeve contained in a Velcro-fastened box. You can read about the set as a whole in great detail in the Horror Classics (50 pack) guide.
Extras:
There are no extras of any kind.
Other Editions:
I didn't find a single release that appeared to offer anything different than all the rest. All list the same specs (when they list anything at all). None mention any remastering or extras.
Final Thoughts:
There isn't a truly “good” version from what I can tell, but then it isn't exactly a “good” movie, either. The Horror Classics 50 pack is a good bargain and offers some better movies for your money.
