The 14th volume of the Cartoon Craze series is “Bugs Bunny: Falling Hare.” It contains 8 standard cartoon episodes some of which may be of interest to collectors because of their elusiveness (at least as far as DVD goes).

1) Falling Hare

Bugs is reading about gremlins but doesn't believe a word of it until one of them shows up to hassle him. They end up battling it out on an airplane in mid flight. Bugs just can't seem to get the upper hand on the mischievous little demon.

-This is a pretty funny toon of Bugs taking abuse from a lesser known character.

2) Fresh Hare

Elmer is a Mountie wanting Bugs “dead or alive.” Much like the hunter Elmer toons, Bugs eludes and torments him with a number of snow related gags.

-This one features the old-style, fatter Elmer. It's a moderately funny but typical chase toon. It includes characters in blackface at the end (usually censored in broadcasts).

3) All This And Rabbit Stew

A hunter (a-la Elmer but more like an old-style stereotypical southern black guy caricature) chases Bugs around and is hassled every which way.

-This one is part of the “Censored 11” (the only one of them featuring Bugs) because of its depiction of the black hunter and is therefore banned from broadcast making it less likely to see an official WB release. While potentially of interest to Bugs Bunny completists, it's really not all that impressive of a cartoon regardless of the racial element.

4) Case Of The Missing Hare

Bugs gets annoyed with an annoying magician and sets out to mess with him while he performs on stage. Pull THIS rabbit out of your hat!

-Bugs and a magic show is an amusing combination.

5) A Day At The Zoo

This is a tour of a zoo featuring numerous gags and jokes with a focus on one kid who keeps teasing a caged lion.

-It's a pretty funny toon done in that mock documentary style that Looney Tunes does so well. Of note is one of the more overt smoking reference dealing with camels.

6) Robin Hood Makes Good

A family of squirrel brothers has been reading Robin Hood and wants to act it out. A fox realizes what they are doing and uses it against them to get him a meal. The smallest of the brothers has to come to the rescue of the others.

-This is a cutesy episode and not one of my personal favorites.

7) Pest Pupil

Baby Huey goes to school and causes quite a ruckus so he gets expelled. He gets a private tutor but is a terror on that poor guy as well.

-This isn't Looney Tunes toon, nor is it from the same timeframe as the others on this set so I'm not sure why it's included. It's mildly funny, but I can see why Baby Huey didn't become as popular as the likes of Bugs and Daffy.

8) Ding Dong Daddy

A dumb, love-starved dog thinks he's found his sweetheart. He doesn't realize it's just a metallic statue. A larger, more vicious bulldog guards the yard making it difficult to woo the “lady,” but that won't stop the lovebird. When the statue is donated to the war effort the heartbroken pooch is determined to save his true love.

-This is a toon I remember enjoying in my youth. It has a silly sentimentality and remains one of the most unusual love stories I've ever seen. It's one of my favorite obscure toons and well worth tracking down.
