There are 26 episodes for Justice League Unlimited vol. 1 (which technically actually includes 2 seasons according to the airing order). This list reflects the play order of the TVD which is a good bit different from some lists (like IMDB). Even the list on the package is different, but this is what you'll see when you actually push “play.”

1) Initiation

Green Arrow is brought to the new league HQ in an effort to recruit him. He’s afraid of losing sight of what’s really important, the little guy, with such a grand-scale organization. His first mission is to help a government facing a giant destructive robot. Should they help a country that doesn’t want help?

-A great introduction to the character of Green Arrow.

-George Eads plays Captain Atom although Chris Cox will take over after this episode.

2) For the Man Who Has Everything

Batman and Wonder Woman find Superman wrapped in some kind of alien creature. The man of steel is trapped in a paradise world where he has a family on Krypton. It’s a life that can’t last, and the loss of it is a huge emotional blow to the invulnerable man.

-There’s more emotion in this than I expected from the series. Still, the whole birthday party setup seems immature next to the more depressing and violent moments.

-Eric Roberts guest stars.

3) Hawk & Dove

Hephastus and Aires have created quite the machine of destruction. Aires sends it out to facilitate a war on Earth with Wonder Woman and brother team Hawk and Dove desperately trying to stop it though they have different ideas on how to do so.

-Not one of my favorite episodes. Hawk & Dove are every bit as corny as the Wonder Twins. If the whole episode were corny it might not be as bad, but the story goes for more mature concepts of dealing with aggression and deception which doesn’t mix well with the heroes’ depictions.

-Ed Asner, Fred Savage, and Patrick Bauchau put in appearances.

4) Fearful Symmetry

Supergirl has some disturbing dreams and sets out to find answers. The Question suspects conspiracy, as always, but maybe it’s not such a crazy idea this time.

-The CG in this episode looks out of place. The conspiracy introduced here will become a larger story arc later on.

-Charles Napier and Cree Summer have cameos.

5) Kid Stuff

Mordred, a spoiled kid, gets ultimate power and causes all adults to vanish – including the League! He’s turned the world into a place without rules and supervision. The only way for the League to get close enough to stop him is to allow themselves to be transformed into kids.

-A strange episode. Not great, but it is amusing.

-Dakota Fanning and Oliva D’Abo guest star.

6) This Little Piggy

Circe turns Wonder Woman into a pig. Batman must delve into the world of magic to transform her back.

-A goofy episode with a lot of nods to Bewitched.

7) The Return

The Green Lantern base is savagely attacked, and an unstoppable android is headed to Earth to take out Lex Luthor. Everything the League can throw at this android is nothing so how can they hope to stop him?

-Will Friedle plays a part that isn’t Terry McGinnis.

8) The Greatest Story Never Told

Booster Gold is fresh in from the future and not doing such a good job of getting the fame and adoration he desires. With a dangerous villain taking the attention of the entire League, Booster finds himself up against a far greater threat that nobody else even recognizes.

-This is by far the best mix of comedy and drama in this set. It’s a great story with some good laughs thrown in.

-Billy West and Tom Everett Scott guest star.

9) Ultimatum

When the League is up against some tough villains the Ultamen step in to save the day much to Aquaman’s chagrin. They are corny but effective. They appear to be the newest force for good, but there is something nefarious going on.

-Some of the Ultamen are based heavily on the old Justice League cartoon.

10) Dark Heart

Mechanical bugs attacking hikers? Sounds like a job for the Orkin Man. Even the combined might of the League can’t hold them back for long. It’s time to get to the heart of the matter, literally. The Atom is called in to infiltrate the base on a miniscule level.

11) Wake The Dead

Kids performing an occult ritual awaken the dead Solomon Grundy. He’s stronger than ever. The disgraced Hawkgirl may be the world’s best hope, but even though the League can forgive her, and the opinion of the public only matters so much, Shayera can’t forgive herself.

12) The Once And Future Thing Part 1 Weird Western Tales

A scientist figures out time travel and uses it to enter the League’s HQ. Batman, Wonder Woman, and Green Lantern follow the man through his porthole and find themselves back in the old west.

-Adam Baldwin, Nestor Carbonell, and Peter MacNicol guest star.

13) The Once And Future Thing Part 2 Time Warped

Done with the past the heroes are now cast into the future. They run into the heroes of the future including the Terry McGinnis version of Batman, Static, and Warhawk who happens to be John Stewart’s son. The scientist, now calling himself Chronos, has enhanced Batman’s enemies to the point of being nearly unstoppable.

-Adam Baldwin, Melissa Joan Hart, and Peter MacNicol guest star.

14) The Cat & The Canary

Wildcat is proving to be an unreliable partner. When the cause turns out to be his involvement in cage fighting, a product of his mid-life crisis, Black Canary looks for a way to help. Is she willing to manipulate Green Arrow to ensure his assistance?

-This begins a story arc with Black Canary and Green Arrow that turns out to be one of the brightest highlights of the season.

15) The Ties That Bind

Granny kidnaps Oberon in order to force Mr. Miracle to help her take over Apocalypse. Flash desperately wants to help so he can see some action, but he keeps getting ignored. He’ll have to find a way to make them pay attention.

-I'm not overly excited about any of the characters in this episode except for Flash who finally gets some screen time.

-Ed Asner and Michael Dorn guest star.

16) The Doomsday Sanction

Cadmus is set up to defend the Earth if the League ever decides to take over, but their methods are highly questionable. When one of their staff gets miffed he releases Doomsday, an unstoppable killing machine obsessed with ripping Superman apart. And if Doomsday doesn’t get him a Kryptonite missile is on the way to finish the job.

-Michael Jai White is Doomsday.

17) Task Force X

A team of criminals has been assembled. Their mission is to infiltrate the League’s HQ and steal something important. But breaking into a place filled with high-powered super heroes is no easy thing.

-Adam Baldwin guest stars.

18) The Balance

The Annihilator is now in the hands of an evil wizard who removes the one invulnerability it had without him. Meanwhile the magical members of the League are freaking out. Wonder Woman and the recently reinstated Hawkgirl must put aside their differences if they can and travel to the underworld to restore balance.

-Jason Bateman and Robert Englund guest star.

19) Double Date

Huntress crosses the line and is dismissed from the League. She teams up with Question to get revenge on a killer. Green Arrow and Black Canary are assigned to protect a prisoner, the very same killer Huntress is after. Is Huntress prepared to take out her old allies for her revenge?

20) Clash

The press misconstrues Captain Marvel’s words as an endorsement for Lex Luthor for president. Superman is put off by it. When Lex acts suspiciously Superman loses it and is prepared to rip apart a charity park based on superficial evidence. Marvel steps in to stop him and the two heroes lock in a destructive battle.

-A surprisingly bad light for Superman, but an excellent story that will really pay off towards the end of the season.

21) Question Authority

Captain Atom is called back to active duty in the Air Force. Question has uncovered incriminating evidence against Lex, but it’s bad for the League. When Lex kidnaps Question, Huntress goes to Superman for rescue help.

22) Hunter's Moon

Not picking up where the last episode left off (maybe this one should have been before it) Hawkgirl is lead into a trap by her people who want revenge for her part in their defeat on Earth. Hawkgirl wants to give herself up to protect her teammates, but they won’t hear of it. Their nobility may cost them their lives.

-Elizabeth Pena guest stars.

23) Flashpoint

Getting back to the earlier interrupted story Captain Atom is at odds with Superman because of the former Leaguer’s military orders. Superman is tired of what Cadmus is doing, especially after the Atom situation, and is ready to go ballistic on them. But somebody beats him to it and frames the League shaking the government and public trust in them. Cadmus is ready to strike back whether the president wants it or not.

24) Panic In The Sky

Recovering from the attack supposedly by the League, Cadmus launches a full-scale assault on the space base. With the entire League fighting for their lives the founding members turn themselves over to government authority as a gesture of cooperation.

25) Divided We Fall

The League finds themselves fighting the combined force of Lex and Brainiac who are on the verge of wiping out the world. This is the time when the heroes find out what they’re really made of.

-This wraps up a rather long and exciting story arc.

26) Epilogue

Years after the previous episode Terry McGinnis is all grown up and has fully taken on the mantle of the bat. He has learned a troublesome bit of info that threatens to destroy his relationship with Bruce and fundamentally change everything he thought he knew about his life. As he recalls his story, Amanda, retired head of Cadmus, recounts hers.

-This is an interesting episode but is weakened slightly by the short timeframe. We have the current story, Terry’s flashbacks, and Amanda’s flashbacks. Having to squeeze all this into 23 minutes causes the flashbacks to jumble easily. Otherwise it’s a fantastic story and a better Batman Beyond wrap-up than the series itself had.

-Lauren Tom reprises Dana.
