Smallville season 7 only has 20 episodes.

1) Bizarro

Clark and Bizarro in their fierce battle have destroyed the dam which has wreaked havoc on the surrounding land. As people fight for their lives Bizarro plans his next move – taking over Clark’s life.

-A fair opening. It needs more Bizarro action particularly at the end which seems to be him beating Clark followed by him beating Clark followed by a little bit of him beating Clark culminating in Clark finding a way to win with basically one hit which feels more anticlimactic than triumphant. What's more is Bizarro's weakness deviates from what I remember it being, and I think the original worked better.

2) Kara

Clark and Lois run into a girl wielding immense power. Could she be a cold-blooded killer? Clark sets out to investigate while Lex investigates Lana’s death. It’s all moot if the alien ship blows everything to bits. Can Clark stop it in time? Meanwhile Lois gets her first crack at working for the Daily Planet.

3) Fierce

Clark’s directive is to watch over Kara, but she’s a fireball. Now she wants to win the city’s beauty pageant. Jimmy sets off after the trail of a team of icy killers who are in Smallville hunting a treasure with other-worldly implications. Lex searches out Kara thinking her an angel. Is he on the verge of repentance?

4) Cure

The bee girl is back only she appears to have been “cured” by some sort of surgery, but there is something fishy about her doctor Curtis Knox. Kara and J’onn reveal some bad blood between them (which is never properly developed – maybe next season). Jimmy is developing a hatred of meteor freaks that is really putting tension on his relationship with Chloe who will put herself in harm’s way to fix it. Lex plays vigilante hero. Could he really be acting selfless?

-Dean Cain guest stars in a really great role.

5) Action

The Warrior Angel movie is shooting in Clark’s back yard… literally. An “accident” puts the star in danger and Clark in the hero chair. Who’s gunning for the actress? Meanwhile Lois hunts for Lex’s secrets but finds herself clashing with her editor who is normally gung-ho about such things. Lionel finds himself trapped in a Misery type situation and Lana seems to be hiding some dark secrets.

-When fans go too far... I wonder how long it will be before some disenfranchised fan gets violent on someone who “raped their childhood” one too many times.

6) Lara

Flashback to Krypton: Kara is being sent to Earth and Zor El doesn’t seem to be the traitor J’onn has claimed he was. In the present Kara is captured and forced to relive her time with Clark’s mother, Lara, amidst a present day clash with her cousin.

-Helen Slater plays Lara El.

7) Wrath

Lana gets Clark’s powers and starts enjoying seeing his world. It quickly begins to corrupt her. She begins hurting people in her thirst for revenge and releases a dangerous enemy. Will Clark be able to trust her again?

8) Blue

Clark is dying to know more about his mother, and Kara’s crystal calls out to him. He defies Jor El AGAIN! His mother appears, but so does someone else. Chloe finds out Lois is fraternizing with their boss at the Planet. Now there’s stress in their family as well as the Els. Enter a new type of Kryptonite: blue. Now the planet is in peril and the heroes are screwed.

9) Gemini

Clark is MIA which is not good considering Lois has been told there’s a bomb planted on Chloe. The villain is deadly serious, and Lois has little choice but comply with his wishes. Kara is no help, she’s missing as well.

-This is kind of a Christmas episode, at least in background.

10) Persona

Clark is not himself lately, but Lana really likes the new him. He begins a quest to find a Kryptonian scientist on Earth, but with Brainiac in the mix nobody is safe. Lex takes a major step to ultimate villainy.

-This one is full of difficult emotions. It also adds a great layer to an old villain. Clark and Lana’s reactions show that trouble is brewing below the surface. Their hang-ups are more than what they appear to be.

11) Siren

A costumed woman, Black Canary, is after Chloe, but now she must face Green Arrow! Yes, Ollie is back, and he and Clark immediately start clashing over views of hero duties. They each have other troubles: Lois knows Ollie's dual identity, and Clark has issues on the home front. But what’s this? Black Canary is a henchman for Lex? She’s after Green Arrow for his attacks on Lexcorp, and Clark is after her for her attacks on Chloe. He severely underestimates the black-clad woman.

-There are some nice Lois and Ollie moments that could potentially feed into her future relationships with other heroes.

12) Fracture

Lois and Lex teamed up to track down Kara? That doesn’t seem likely. Lex is shot – AGAIN- but a night in the hospital is not going to fix him this time. Now Clark is on a rescue mission to find Lois and Kara, info that only the nearly-dead Lex has. Using an experimental and dangerous procedure Clark enters Lex’s mind where he encounters vestiges of the villain’s psyche.

-One question: given the severity of Lex’s injuries how could they have possibly found him in time for this episode to even take place? He should have been stone cold dead.

13) Hero

Jimmy is trying to jog Kara’s absent memory but is not doing so well. Pete is back in town when he goes superhuman in a freak accident and is caught on camera using his powers. Pete actually wants the world to know he’s a hero, and he and Clark clash over ideals. Clark also struggles with telling Kara about her true past holding off because of her contact with Lex who is misguiding her.

-Yes, it’s another amnesia story. However, it opens the door for a Lex/Kara relationship which has a foundation in Superman lore.

14) Traveler

Clark is attacked. The guy is human but knows just how to take the Kryptonian down. He’s caged like a rat, and Kara is so far gone that she’s actually moved in with Lex – therefore no help to her cousin. The daughter of Virgil Swann shows up threatening Lionel with accusations of murder and a secret society. She knows of Krypton but little else. What’s a man in Lionel’s position to do?

-This is an odd turn for the overall story arch and would have been extremely interesting if the payoff had been better. I came to really like the character of Patricia Swann well played by Gina Holden. Aaron Douglas of Battlestar Galactica fame guest stars.

15) Veritas

Brainiac is back, but now he faces 2 Els. Lex is working on uncovering secrets locked away by Dr. Swann upon Clark’s arrival to Earth. Could he possibly have a weapon to control Clark? Lionel tries desperately to help the budding hero, but Clark’s emotions get in the way as usual and keep him from listening.

16) Descent

The lure of the potential power the Veritas group has hidden away pushes Lex to the point of complete evil. Jimmy may have proof of Lex’s evil, but it may not keep Lex from destroying Chloe. Time for Clark to get in hero mode.

17) Sleeper

Jimmy O: secret agent man? Rewind. An agency approaches Jimmy wanting him to spy on Chloe who has drawn attention in her attempts to help Clark. She does act mighty suspiciously to someone that doesn’t know the whole story. Clark, meanwhile, follows leads to save Lana, and Brainiac’s plan begins to come to light.

-The whole terrorist-secret agent plot plays out very poorly. This is arguably the worst episode this season.

18) Apocalypse

Clark has to go not only to Krypton but back in time. He’s not up to the challenge. Instead he decides to sacrifice himself to save his dad and Lana. He gets a glimpse of the repercussions of that decision. At first everything appears to be pretty rosy, but it’s a whole lot worse than it looks. And if that weren’t enough Brainiac is poised to destroy the entire Earth.

-“It's a Wonderful Life” Smallville-style? Every time a bell rings a hero gets his cape. OK, no.

19) Quest

Lex is attacked while researching the artifact that may be able to control Clark. Clark goes all DaVinci Code finding that Veritas exists to serve him and help him stop Lex from controlling him. Jimmy uncovers new info about the old cave paintings.

20) Arctic

Lex has the device to control Clark which actually takes him to the Fortress of Solitude. Kara is after the device, too, but under what motivation? Has it driven her to murder? Chloe is arrested for treason.
